Spring also marks the beginning of wedding season. Now is the perfect time to start shopping for the perfect wedding guest dress for your next wedding. A lot of Spring and Summer weddings have specific wedding dress codes.

These usually entail cocktail attire and/or bright colors and a warm color palette. Black is usually the exception to this and is usually welcomed at all weddings.

The best floral dresses to wear to a wedding

1) A midi floral dress

If you’re wondering what the perfect dress is to wear to a Spring wedding with no dress code, a floral midi dress is your best bet. Midi dresses are formal enough to be worn to formal events like wedding receptions while being short enough to not be too stuffy. A short or long-sleeved midi dress work fine.

During the warm months, opt for floral dresses made from a light weight fabric to stay nice and cool. In terms of footwear, chose footwear to match the season in terms of style and color. Play around with bright colors such as white and yellow. If your dress is very busy, stick to heels in a neutral color.

2) A floral maxi dress

Floral maxi dresses are a great choice if you do not wish to show your legs but want a stylish floral ensemble. A sleeveless design is typically appropriate for weddings and so you want to take advantage of that. A sweetheart neckline is very flattering and would bring attention to your decolletage. Opt for dark florals during the winter or if the dress code calls for darker colors.

3) High low floral dress

Opting for a high-low floral dress is a great way to add a touch of sexiness to your wedding guest outfit. You can go for a shorter dress if the dress code is less formal or if it’s a relaxed garden wedding. If you don’t want to be too sexy, try balancing things out by choosing a dress with long sleeves.

It’s always a good idea to pair a high low dress with heels to make your legs look super long. A pair of strappy heels or heeled wedges are both good choices. The brighter your dress, the more neutral your shoes should be.

4) Floral dress with a slit

Wedding attire is meant to be flattering and show off your best features in a classy way. There’s no better way to show off some leg that choosing a dress with a slit. Some of the best floral dresses I have seen so far have thigh slits meant to not only show off your best asset but also make it easy to drop it low on the dance floor.

Pairing your dress with a heeled sandal or strappy heels is the best way to complete your look. To avoid doing too much at someone else’s wedding, I suggest not going for a sleeveless design if your dress has a high slit.

Also try to keep the slit no higher than your mid-thigh.

I also love THIS OPTION if you’re not one to shy away from turning heads.

5) Halter neck maxi dress

One of the right places to show some shoulder is at summer wedding. A halter neck dress brings more attention to your arms and so if these are your best asset, this is the right time to show them off. You could opt for a midi or maxi dress to pull off this look. During the early Spring months, you could opt for halter dresses in heavier fabrics.

Complete your look with a pair of high heel sandals or strappy sandals. If you’re working with a long dress, you could get away with a pair of flats. I suggest you switch to flats during the reception, especially if you’re about to bust a move on the dancefloor.

6) Spaghetti strap floral dress

Headed to a more casual wedding during the summer months? Then a thin-strapped floral dress may be the best option for you. Balance your outfit out by opting for a longer dress. This would keep your look appropriate for a wedding, even if it’s a more casual one. With special events like weddings, you always want to be respectful of the happy couple.

I always recommend paring all of your formal wedding guest dresses with a pair of heels, regardless of the dress code. It just makes your outfit stand out more and adds a touch of elegance. Do accessorize with statement earrings and a cute clutch purse. THESE mules would be a great choice of footwear.

7) Swing floral dress

If 50s vintage dresses fit your personally style, then I have a treat for you. A boatneck sleeveless floral dress is the best option to go with if the wedding you’re attending is black tie but with a 1950s theme. You could choose a dress with a fitted bodice to ensure the most flattering fit and a snatched waist.

Complete your look with a pair of pumps that would make the baby boomers proud. You could even add a pair of tights underneath to keep warm in the cooler temperatures or to stay on theme with your look.

8) One-shoulder floral dress

Choose a dress that cinches in your waist to achieve an hourglass figure in your one shoulder dress. In terms of footwear, choose a color that is featured on your floral dress. This would compliment your dress nicely and make you look more stylish. A purse in a complimentary color seals your overall look.

I also love THIS OPTION if you love a slit.

9) Floral mini dress

If the wedding you’re attending destination weddings such as a beach wedding with a casual dress code, you could look chic and have a good time in a short floral dress. Keep your outfit interesting by opting for a dress with a fun detail like a large bow or an exaggerated draped fabric overlay.
