Bridal showers are such fun and special occasions. A lot of brides actually prefer a bridal shower to a bachelorette party because of how relaxed they tend to be. A bridal shower is typically a daytime event to celebrate a bride-to-be. The bride’s family and friends typically come together for this gift-giving ceremony days or weeks before her wedding day.
This is a different pace from the typical bachelorette which usually involves a party or two as well as some drinking and physical activities. If you’re attending a bridal shower, you can expect some food as well as some fun. During the winter months, it could be a little more challenging to put together a chic bridal shower outfit.
If you’re about to be a bridal shower guest this winter and are not sure what to wear, you want to keep reading this post. I would be going over some great bridal shower outfit ideas you could pull off at your next wedding shower. I would be splitting this post into two: what to wear to your own bridal shower as the bride-to-be and what to wear as a guest. We’ll start off with some great options of bridal shower dresses and fits worthy of a stylish bride. You want to stand out in your bridal shower look and here are some great options.
What to wear to your winter bridal shower
i) White sweater dress
You can create a warm yet chic look at your winter bridal shower by pairing a white sweater dress with a pair of white boots. As the guest of honor, you get to wear all white and this is a stylish way to do so. For a more formal bridal shower, opt for a long sweater dress with long sleeves. A pair of white ankle boots would work nicely.
For less formal bridal showers, a mini white sweater dress works fine. You could wow your guests by choosing a pair of tall white boots to make your white outfit really stand out. Accessorize with gold earrings.
If you’re looking for a white dress you could recycle in the future for date night, THIS drop shoulder belted dress is a good idea.
ii) White sweater and pants
If dresses are not your thing or you’re looking for a different style of bridal shower attire, try pairing a white sweater with white pants. This is a great choice if you’re not trying to buy any new clothing and are working with items you own in your closet. You could pair a cropped sweater with high-waisted dress pants for a chic bridal shower brunch outfit.
Complete your look with a pair of ankle boots or high heels if you’re going to be indoors. You could also play around with different shades of white to put your look together.
iii) White midi dress
It’s your bridal party and you get to stand out how you want to. If your bridal shower has a cocktail attire dress code, then a white midi-length dress is a great option during the winter. It’s short enough to pair with cute boots while being long enough to keep you a little warm. You could pair your white cocktail dress with knee-high boots or a pair of strappy heels.
iv) White pencil skirt and long-sleeved top
If you’re celebrating your big day with family members and close friends and don’t want to fuss about your outfit, try going for a white pencil skirt with a white blouse. You could choose a midi or maxi white skirt and pair it with a nice blouse. If you are not a fan of all-white ensembles, fee free to pair your pencil skirts with blouses in bright colors.
You could also replace your blouse with a nice sweater if it’s really cold and you’re not trying to get sick before your big day. Complete your look with a pair of heels or sleek ballet flats if your bridal shower theme is more casual. Layer your outfit with a longline coat in a neutral color.
v) White jumpsuit
A white jumpsuit is a great choice if your bridal shower is not going to be a long event or if you have a really good bladder (haha). You could style it with some bold accessories and even add a nice cardigan on top for some extra warmth. You could also drape a warm faux fur stole across your shoulders if your jumpsuit is strapless.
Now that you have some good options of outfits as the bride-to-be, let’s discuss bridal shower guest outfits. Always be mindful of any specific dress code or bridal shower theme before choosing your outfit. If your bridal shower invitation does not mention a theme or dress code, I would check with the maid of honor. Regardless, avoid showing up in white unless it’s specifically mentioned to do so.
What to wear to a winter bridal shower as a guest
1) A floral dress
If the theme of the bridal shower welcomes florals, then by all means, go for it. With Spring not too far away, add some life to the special occasion by choosing a midi dress with floral prints. Pair it with a cardigan for some extra warmth. A pair of heels or heeled boots work great for footwear.
I love THIS long-sleeved option.
2) Sweater dress
If you are meant to show up in winter colors, then you could opt for a sweater dress in a rich color such as dark green or burgundy. Choose the color that compliments your skin tone best and then choose a sweater dress that comes in that color. A midi or maxi dress works better during the cold months.
3) A sweater and maxi skirt
A great way to show up to a bridal shower looking chic and warm is by pairing a nice sweater with a chic long skirt. If the theme is pastel colors, you get to have so much fun with this outfit. Try pairing two different pastel colors in your outfit to create a fashion-forward look.

Complete your perfect outfit with a pair of heels in a neutral color. Ankle boots are the best choice to go with long skirts as most of your leg is covered any way. For a more formal look, choose a fitted sweater.
4) Sweater and pants
Whether the theme involves pastel colors or not, you can always opt for a classic sweater and pants look, A pair of black pants could be paired with a sweater in a different color for a look you could take from the office to the party. If the bridal shower is taking place at a country club, slip into a pair of heels upon reaching your destination.
Instead of black pants, brighten up your outfit with a pair of white ones. Just make sure you don’t choose a white sweater or else you may be upstaging the bride-to-be. Add a warm coat on top to keep extra warm and don’t forget the chic ankle boots.
I hope you have gotten enough bridal shower guest outfit ideas you can try out for your winter bridal shower. Always remember to respect the dress code and if there isn’t one, avoid an all-white outfit. Opt for heavy instead of light fabrics if you get cold easily and you can always layer with a pair of tights, leggings and a cardigan.
